FMICS, the ERCIM Working Group on Formal Methods for Industrial Critical Systems, is holding it's annual conference as part of the QONFEST series. The actual conference dates will be announced on the webpage. Most likely, it will be 2-3 days within the QONFEST week (August 23-27, 2021). FMICS is the key conference in the intersection of industrial applications and Formal Methods.

The French government appointed Philippe Baptiste as President of the French space agency CNES. Born in 1972, Philippe Baptiste holds a PhD from the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC) and is a graduate in civil engineering from the Ecole des Mines engineering school in Nancy. He also holds an MSc from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, a DEA postgraduate diploma from Sorbonne University and is an accredited research director. Philippe Baptiste won the ERCIM Cor Baayen Award in 2000.

ERCIM and JST (Japan Science and Technology Agency) are organizing the first joint Symposium on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence on 18-19 February 2021. The online symposium aims to present recent results of research conducted in the context of the JST Crest programme as well as relevant research results from European institutions. The meeting will provide the opportunity to participants from Japan and Europe to familiarize themselves with recent research results and consider collaboration prospects that will arise in the context of the Horizon Europe framework programme or relevant initiatives from JST.

Stefano Cresci has been selected from among 13 excellent short-listed nominees as the winner of the 2020 ERCIM Cor Baayen Award. Stefano, from CNR, Italy, has received the award in recognition of the outstanding scientific quality of his research and the impact on science and society that he has already achieved as a young researcher.

Therefore, a panel “Genesis, Success Stories, and the Next 25 Years” was organized to celebrate this remarkable milestone. The conference took place virtually on 2-3 September, hosted by TU Wien.

The 16th International Workshop on Security and Trust Management, co-located with ESORICS 2020, originally planned to be held in Guildford, UK on 17-18 September 2020 has been moved to an online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Arrangements for the virtual format are being made and will be announced on the workshop web page. This new format will not affect the proceedings, which will be published as Springer LNCS proceedings. STM (Security and Trust Management) is a Working Group of ERCIM. STM 2020 is the sixteenth workshop in this series and will be held in conjunction with the 25th European Symposium On Research in Computer Security (ESORICS 2020). The workshop seeks submissions from academia, industry, and government presenting novel research on all theoretical and practical aspects of security and trust in ICTs.
The deadline for paper submissions is 22 June.
