 CNR Piero Maestrini has been appointed Director of the newly constituted 'Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell'Informazione' (ISTI), located in the CNR Research Area, Pisa. ISTI-CNR is the result of a union between the CNR Institutes of CNUCE and IEI and will conduct R&D activities in the fields of computer science and IT. Currently, the main areas of interest are currently: software engineering, formal methods for specification and verification, networked multimedia information systems, Web-based information systems, knowledge discovery and data mining, image and signal processing, visual computing and computer graphics, human-computer interaction, high performance computing, wireless and mobile networks, dependable computing, structural mechanics and spaceflight dynamics.
