Computer Graphics - Virtual Reality - Graphics Highways
by Sabine Coquillart
The ERCIM-sponsored 'European Conference on Computer Graphics', Eurographics'96,
was held at the 'European Park of Moving Images', the Futuroscope in Poitiers,
France, 26-30 August 1996. Continuing a series of conferences organized
by ERCIM institutes (Universitat Polytecnica de Catalunya in 1993, SINTEF
in 1994 and CWI in 1995), the 17th Eurographics conference was organised
by INRIA. Eurographics is the leading inter-national Computer Graphics conference
in Europe and this 17th edition - the third in France - brought together
leading researchers and companies, from inside and outside Europe, representing
the state of the art in Computer Graphics.
To reflect the rapid evolution of the sector, this year's conference gave
a complete picture of the field through three streams of presentation: Computer
Graphics, Virtual Reality and Graphics Highways (Computer Graphics and Information
Highways). There was a very rich programme, consisting of both invited presentations
and reviewed papers, spread over 4 parallel sessions.
